ATHEROSCLEROSIS

CV Animal Studies

PKT200 molecules are being tested in established preclinical animal models, including:

  • Atherosclerosis: Plaque volume and characteristics in Apolipprotein E knockout mice, with and without additional challenge of experimentally induced diabetes. In addition plaque stability and rupture (mimicking human disease) will be assessed in a carotid tandem stenosis model.

  • Myocardial infarction and ventricular remodelling (heart attack): Infarct size, expansion, and impact on left ventricular dilatation and function will be tested after both ischaemia-reperfusion and complete infarction model in mice.

Atherosclerosis Program

  • Chronic low-grade inflammation contributes to the development of cardiovascular disease and the P2X7.
