PULMONARY HYPERTENSION
CV Animal Studies
PKT200 molecules are being tested in established preclinical animal models, including:
-
Pulmonary hypertension: pulmonary and right ventricular fibrosis, as well as right ventricular pressures and function will be measured in hypoxia and bleomycin-induced models of pulmonary hypertension in mice.
-
Diabetic cardiomyopathy (heart failure): Left ventricular hypertrophy, fibrosis, diastolic function and systemic evidence of heart failure will be assessed in a mouse model of diabetic cardiomyopathy established using a high fat diet superimposed on low dose streptozocin model of type 2 diabetes. This model is endorsed by the NIH Animal Models of Diabetes Complications Consortium (AMDCC) and FDA for preclinical testing of new therapies.

Chronic low-grade inflammation contributes to the development of cardiovascular disease and the P2X7 receptor mediates inflammation and cellular death.
